Let me show you why the first step is always the easiest

Have you ever come a cross a quote online that claimed that the first step (to your journey) was the hardest?

I’ll assume we’ve all come across it. The post if it were on social media probably was endorsed by comments, likes, shares or retweets.

I however disagree with that narrative.

I believe that the first step is the easiest if you start at the beginning!

The reason we sometimes see it as hard is because we try to take a middle part of a long process and make it a first step. Yet we should be viewing the first step to something as the minimum viable effort toward reaching the ultimate goal.

But alas’, sometimes when we have goals we it is because we romanticize the ones who are fast the first step. They ignite us with inspiration.

As such a kid in Harare, Zimbabwe living in a basic house in the ghetto vows that she will only start her podcast when she has a backdrop to cover up the scrapped paint on her living room. perhaps, better lighting and a camera.

Yet the lowest hanging fruit could be sticking to Audio and doing multiple episodes decorated by artwork and posting them to YouTube or Anchor.

We do not face hardship because , starting is the hard part. We face hardship because we want to start processes in the middle.

Yet nature itself has taught us that things grow and take processes at the right seasons.

Have you ever seen the 3 trimesters of a baby in a womb?

First trimester ….

Baby looks irregular.

2nd trimester…. you can see that its a baby but still looks like a martian.

3rd trimester…. its better looking. You can see where things are going.

Even after all that it’s born imperfect. Unable to talk, walk, read or write.

Those are steps that the baby learns as it grows and as they become needed.

No teeth even for a while. No ability to was oneself or feed oneself.

Yet its God’s creation manifesting perfection over a number of years.

So go ahead and make the minimum viable effort. Take the low hanging fruit.
